In the last nine years, 302,411 new jobs have been registered in Armenia, but the question arises as to how many of these are truly new. Official data shows that by December 2025, the number of registered workers reached 821,470, representing a growth of over 311,000 jobs.
However, a registered job and a new job are not the same. For example, a worker who has been working for many years but only signed a contract last year is considered a new worker in statistics, but in reality, he is not new.
In 2022-2023, the average salary increased by 20%, while registered employment grew by only 5%. This growth is mainly due to capital and people coming from Russia to Armenia.
79% of registered jobs, approximately 192,000 workers, are concentrated in Yerevan, while the role of the public sector in this growth is modest.
Ultimately, instead of creating new jobs, most of the increase is the official registration of previously unregistered workers.
