Armenia and Iran Discuss Construction of Second Bridge over Araks River

Strengthening Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Iran

The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, met with the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ms. Farzaneh Sadeghi, during his working visit to Iran.

The ministry reports that the meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, Kristine Galechyan, who coordinates the road construction sector, and the Executive Director of the Road Department Foundation, Arkadi Cherchinyan.

Minister Khudatyan noted with satisfaction the progress in the construction of the Kajaran–Agarak road section.

According to the minister, Iran is significantly involved in Armenia's infrastructure programs, which indicates the strong economic cooperation and friendly relations established between the two countries.

During the meeting, in addition to issues related to road construction, questions regarding cooperation in the fields of transport and aviation were also discussed.

The parties agreed to take necessary steps to increase the volume of cargo transportation between the two countries.

The construction of a second bridge over the Araks River at the Armenia–Iran state border was also discussed. It was noted that its implementation would enhance the transport capacity between the two countries and contribute to the further development of economic cooperation.

Other mutually interesting issues were also discussed during the meeting.
