At the invitation of David Tamazashvili, the head of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, a delegation led by Colonel Garik Muradyan, commander of the Border Forces of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, visited Georgia from July 27 to 30, 2026. This was reported by the NSS of Armenia.
During the visit, a meeting was held with David Tamazashvili, the head of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, during which the Georgian side presented the structure of the Border Police, its main functions, and priority areas of activity. The meeting discussed issues related to ensuring border security and cooperation between border agencies, and the willingness to continue developing cooperation was reaffirmed.
The delegation also met with Levan Maisuradze, the director of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
During the meeting, the main directions of the activities of the patrol police were presented, and issues related to queues at border crossing points between the Republic of Armenia and Georgia were discussed.
The delegation also visited the Academy of Public Safety and Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, where the structure of the academy, the peculiarities of organizing the educational process, modern educational infrastructures, and retraining opportunities were presented, where border guards also undergo retraining.
During the visit, the delegation of the Border Forces of the NSS of Armenia also visited the “112” Public Safety Management Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
At the end of the visit, Colonel Garik Muradyan, commander of the Border Forces of the NSS of Armenia, thanked David Tamazashvili, head of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, for the invitation, warm reception, effective meetings, and constructive discussions aimed at further developing bilateral cooperation.
