Armenia ranks 96th in the Global Tax Expenditures Transparency Index

Armenia scored 33.4 points out of 100

YEREVAN, July 29. /ARKA/. Armenia ranks 96th in the updated version of the Global Tax Expenditures Transparency Index (GTETI), scoring 33.4 points out of 100:

Compared to the previous version of the ranking, the country dropped 21 positions, and its overall score decreased by 3.5 points:

  • 8.0 points out of 20 for the availability of information to the public;
  • 8.0 for the institutional framework;
  • 7.9 for methodology and coverage;
  • 5.5 for the publication of descriptive data on tax expenditures;
  • 4.0 for conducting assessments of tax expenditures.

The ARKA agency has sent a request to the Ministry of Finance of Armenia and is awaiting a comment:

The GTETI index covers 218 countries and jurisdictions, but the ranking is compiled for 116 countries for which information was available for assessment:

GTETI assesses the regularity, quality, and coverage of government reporting on tax expenditures — benefits, exemptions, deductions, tax credits, and other preferences that lead to a reduction in budget revenues:

The index does not reflect the level of tax burden or the competitiveness of the tax system; it characterizes the transparency of the disclosure of information on tax expenditures:
