Armenia could lose 80% of cheese export revenue if it loses the Russian market. This was reported by the Ria Novosti agency, citing a statement from Rosselkhoznadzor.
By the end of 2025, the country's income from global market supplies amounted to $16.4 million, of which $13.5 million was attributed to Russia. Russia is not only Armenia's largest buyer of cheese but also the only country that consistently imports millions of this product every month.
In 2025, other major buyers of cheese from Armenia included the United States ($1.8 million) and Georgia ($670,900).
From July 14 to 21, specialists from Rosselkhoznadzor conducted inspections at Armenian dairy processing enterprises that had previously received permission to supply their products to Russia.
The inspections confirmed the recurrence of violations recorded during previous checks in 2023-2024, related to the operation of traceability systems and the provision of veterinary accompanying documents.
Based on the identified violations, Rosselkhoznadzor took measures to prevent the penetration of highly dangerous infectious diseases into Russia.
