YEREVAN, July 30. /ARKA/. The government of Armenia approved proposals for signing three grant agreements with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) related to the construction of customs-logistics centers for Yerevan and the Syunik region at a meeting on Thursday.
The total financing for the two projects is estimated at approximately €57 million, of which €49 million are loans from the EBRD and €8 million are grant funds.
The cost of the Yerevan center project is €45 million. It is financed through an EBRD loan of up to €39 million and a European Union grant of up to €6 million through the Neighbourhood Investment Platform.
For the construction of the Syunik center, €12 million is allocated: a loan of €10 million from the EBRD and an investment grant of €2 million through the Special Fund for Shareholders of the bank.
The approved government grant agreements provide for technical and consulting support for the projects, including assistance in procurement, technical supervision, and obtaining international environmental certification.
Syunik Center
The Syunik customs-logistics center is planned to be built on a 7.7-hectare site near the village of Shaki, about 7 km from Sisian. The project includes the creation of a service center for participants in foreign economic activity and an administrative building with a rooftop solar power station.
Yerevan Center
The Yerevan customs-logistics center is planned to be located in the village of Proshyan in the Kotayk region. The project includes the construction of a service center for participants in foreign economic activity and an administrative building of the State Revenue Committee.
The main procedures are expected to be transferred to electronic format. It is anticipated that the new center will speed up service, increase the transparency of customs control, and reduce associated risks.
