Armenia demands 2 billion dollars from Russia. New developments around the Armenian railway:
“Russian Railways” warns that if Armenia terminates the concession agreement with its subsidiary “South Caucasian Railways”, it must return all investments made by the Russian company since 2008.
Oleg Belozerov, the CEO of “Russian Railways”, pointed to a specific amount — about 400 million dollars.
“If the Armenian side is considering the possibility of terminating or changing the concession agreement, we also have the right to expect the return of investments. The Russian side has fully fulfilled its obligations under the concession agreement since 2008.
Recently, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that their position regarding the railway remains the same — it is their property.
The Russian side is “surprised and puzzled” by the Armenian Prime Minister's statement regarding the demand for 2 billion dollars.
The government has promised to respond to these and other questions later.
