The Armenian government approved a report on the progress of the measures outlined in the program for the double extension of the operational period of the second unit of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant during its meeting on July 23. According to «Armenpress», the issue was included in the package of non-reporting questions of the government meeting.
A total of 103 measures are included in the program. Within the framework of 23 major measures under the responsibility of the company «Rusatom Service», 18 contracts have been signed. Of these, 9 are in the execution phase, and 9 contracts have been completed.
For 37 major measures under the responsibility of the NPP, 45 procurement procedures have been organized. 36 contracts have been signed, of which 17 works have been completed.
A framework agreement worth approximately $57.5 million was signed with «Rusatom Service» in December 2023.
As part of the safety assessment of the unit, studies have been conducted on the impact of fires, probabilistic safety, deviations from the requirements of current standards, and additional measures to enhance safety. Some reports have been submitted for review by the Nuclear Safety Regulation Committee.
Work on the program for the double extension of the operational period of the second unit of the NPP is ongoing.
