The leader of BHK, businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, currently in prison, has sent a new message from detention:
"The absence of BHK and our program (Proposal for Armenia) will always be felt in the new National Assembly. The reason is not the lack of educated and prepared figures; such deputies exist in all factions. The problem is the absence of alternative effective solutions, different perspectives, and the complete force carrying these proposed programmatic approaches.
Overall, I had prepared my team for a deep programmatic struggle, which unfortunately did not succeed, and certainly not due to our fault.
As you know, for the last 10-15 years, I have not been involved in the micromanagement of any business, in current management processes (both the law did not allow it, and in reality, I was no longer interested), and this allowed me to view the economy of Armenia, its development risks, and potential from a macroeconomic perspective. Even now, being cut off from many information flows, political-public micro-processes, and micro-relationships, I have the opportunity to look at problems from a macro perspective.
What I see now from this perspective
I see that Armenia is facing a high probability of shocks. Moreover, we are not talking about a theoretical future, but about a very real one, in a matter of months. Without blinking, we could find ourselves in a very difficult situation. The risks posed by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the Iran-US confrontation are enough to understand this.
I am extremely concerned about our country's economic problems and the artificially imposed question of choice — EU or EAEU. Both the West and Russia are putting such a sharp choice before us, but the problem is that we ourselves have brought ourselves to such a rigid, artificial divide.
Adding to the situation are the demands from Azerbaijan and the pressures from Turkey. This is no longer a matter of sitting on two chairs, as many naively believe. Two chairs still provide an opportunity for choice. This is a situation where any decision, any step can lead to serious risks and serious backlash from the other side.
So what are we going to do to ensure that our small Armenia does not fall into major geopolitical shocks? This is the most realistic agenda for the entire country today.
I do not know how much this parliament will work; I have heard different versions, but as long as my political force exists, I, as a leader, and my narrow team, with whom we always discuss such issues, will pursue this line: Armenia should not enter into shocks due to geopolitical motivations.
We must remove our country from these ultimatum formulas. This is no longer a matter of power-opposition struggle. Everyone will suffer the consequences, without exception. This greatly concerns me. There are solutions; they may not be easy, they may be complex, they may require great effort, but they exist."
