YEREVAN, July 24. /ARKA/. The European Central Bank (ECB) has presented the final designs for new euro banknotes, from which winners will be selected. Europeans must decide whether they will feature figures from science and art or nature, according to Euronews.
In total, the ECB received 1,200 sketches but narrowed the list down to two thematic directions — European culture and European nature.
The first group includes personalities who have left a significant mark in the history of art, music, science, and literature. The second group features rivers and birds, symbols of European biodiversity and the need for its protection.
Six key historical figures
The 5 euro banknote will depict opera singer Maria Callas.
The 10 euro note will be dedicated to German composer Ludwig van Beethoven, while the 20 euro note will honor Nobel laureate in physics and chemistry Marie Curie.
