China Increases Investments in Renewable Energy

Amid Tensions in the Middle East

China has significantly increased its investments in the renewable energy sector under the "Belt and Road" initiative. According to the Financial Times, project financing in the first half of the year reached a record $20.1 billion.

Research from Queensland University and the Shanghai Green Finance & Development Center indicates that this figure has already surpassed the total for 2025. Of the investments, $11.8 billion went to construction projects, while $8.3 billion was allocated for direct investments. The total volume of transactions under the program amounted to $126.3 billion.

Experts estimate that the lower cost of renewable energy and high volatility in energy prices are increasing China's technological competitiveness. At the same time, there is a growing demand for electrical infrastructure and artificial intelligence data processing centers worldwide.

It was previously reported that due to the conflict in the Middle East, exports of solar panels from China increased by 80%, while exports of lithium-ion batteries rose by 34%, strengthening the country's position in the global renewable energy market.
