The first session of the National Assembly of Armenia's ninth convocation will take place on August 2 at 10:00 AM. The session will primarily focus on the formation of the leadership bodies of the new parliament.
The session will be chaired by the oldest member of parliament until the election of the speaker. The President of Armenia and the Catholicos of All Armenians will have the right to deliver opening speeches, although the Catholicos has not received an invitation to the first session.
After the speeches, the deputies will take an oath. The updated version of the oath states that deputies pledge to faithfully perform their duties as representatives of the people, uphold the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia, and work towards strengthening the statehood and protecting the interests of the Republic of Armenia.
Following the oath, the chairman will officially announce the total number of deputies in the new convocation, name the parties and blocs that formed political coalitions, and introduce the parliamentarians.
One of the first organizational issues will be the creation of the Counting Commission, which will be formed based on proposals from parliamentary factions and approved by a vote of the deputies.
