The current government of Armenia, which is in a crisis of legitimacy, has escalated the legal impunity towards political opponents to a new level, ruthlessly using the law enforcement system for its own purposes, and is now pursuing those who have made donations to opposition parties. This is stated in the announcement of the Supreme Body of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun".
"Not satisfied with illegal wiretapping, arrests, detentions, and numerous illegal criminal prosecutions, law enforcement agencies have moved on to the persecution of individuals who donated to opposition parties. In particular, the investigative body has long been illegally detaining and illegally 'interrogating' members and supporters of the ARF 'Dashnaktsutyun', that is, ordinary citizens who made donations to the party in accordance with the requirements established by law," the announcement states.
The political force noted that this is happening at a time when numerous irrefutable facts disseminated in the press indicate that the ruling party 'Civil Contract' under Nikol Pashinyan is receiving illegal income and is unacceptably using administrative resources in elections for its own party interests.
The ARF noted that, as expected, in this case law enforcement and other competent authorities remain silent. "Evaluating all this as a violation of Articles 8 and 46 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, as well as a clear attempt to undermine the foundations of democracy, we demand that international organizations and monitoring missions provide an adequate, impartial assessment of such a working style of the ruling regime. We demand that law enforcement agencies immediately return to compliance with the law, maintaining the requirements of the Constitution and the Constitutional Law 'On Political Parties'. We draw public attention to the monogamous non-Bolshevism of the political authorities and the selective corruption carried out at the state level. We declare that many thousands of members, supporters, and adherents of the ARF 'Dashnaktsutyun' will not retreat before the lawlessness of the punitive machine, will not fear fabricated interrogations, and will resolutely continue the struggle against the current regime for a legitimate, democratic, and safe Armenia," the Supreme Body of the ARF stated.
