The US is negotiating with other countries to establish a protected transit for cargo through the Hormuz Strait. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio after a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) event.
“Yes, we are talking about this topic, there are countries that are interested. But some of them have different approaches to how they can organize it: some need an international mandate from an international organization, while others need to go through a legislative process,” Rubio said in an interview with reporters.
