The USA will allocate $200 million in humanitarian aid to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) for disaster response and humanitarian assistance.
According to the announcement, approximately $133 million of the allocated funding will go to ICRC's global program for 2026, while $70 million will be directed to IFRC. The US State Department emphasized that this funding aligns with the new US approach to humanitarian assistance aimed at ensuring more flexible and rapid responses to international crises.
IFRC, which unites national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies operating in various countries around the world, is often one of the first organizations to provide assistance to affected populations during disasters and emergencies. US funding will help quickly expand the response capabilities of these organizations.
Support provided to ICRC is intended to deliver vital assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts.
