The USA Imposes New Tariffs of 10-12.5% on 60 Countries

The new tariffs came into effect on July 24

The United States has imposed new tariffs on imports from 60 countries, explaining this move as a fight against forced labor. According to Armenpress, the statement was made by the office of U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer:

It is noted that the decision includes tariffs of 10% or 12.5% for 60 trading partners with certain exceptions taken into account.

“The United States is the only country in the world that prohibits the import of goods produced with forced labor and effectively enforces it. President Trump calls on all trading partners to join the United States in eliminating forced labor from global supply chains,” the statement said.

This action pertains to the 60 largest trading partners of the United States, which account for 99.4% of U.S. imports.

According to the U.S. Trade Representative's office, a 10% tariff will be imposed on countries that have agreed to accept and enforce a ban on the import of goods produced with forced labor, while those countries that have not accepted such a ban will be subject to a 12.5% tariff.

Armenia is not on the list of countries.

The new tariffs came into effect on July 24 at 00:01 Eastern Time (08:01 Yerevan time).

They will replace the 10% temporary global tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. The duration of these tariffs, which were set for 150 days, expired on July 24. Trump had implemented these measures in February after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down tariffs enacted in 2025.
