Arman Yeghoyan, a deputy of the Civil Contract faction, commented during a briefing on the recent statements of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev regarding the 'Zangezur Corridor,' noting that there is no such expression in the signed documents.
'There is no question of argument and counter-argument here at all. There are signed documents, statements, even a draft of a preliminary agreement, and you will not find the expression 'Zangezur Corridor' anywhere in those documents. It does not exist.'
'At the level of political discourse, many can say a lot. We also say that such a concept, such a term of infrastructure does not exist on the territory of the Republic of Armenia. There is a TRIP project on the territory of Armenia, under which the signatures of the President of Azerbaijan, the President of the USA, and the Prime Minister of Armenia are placed. Other documents have followed, including the trilateral joint statement published a few days ago on the occasion of the anniversary of the agreement of August 8, and that expression is also not there,' Yeghoyan said.
Commenting on the unblocking of roads in the South Caucasus and their profitability, the deputy noted that the process is beneficial for both Armenia and Azerbaijan.
'If it were not beneficial, that document would not have been signed. The unblocking of the region under the conditions described in the signed documents is naturally beneficial for both Armenia and Azerbaijan. Otherwise, their signatures would not be there. It is very good that the views on the issue of unblocking coincide on those conditions,' Yeghoyan added.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in an interview with Azerbaijani television on August 11 in Nakhchivan, called the creation of the 'Zangezur Corridor' an initiative of Azerbaijan, and linking the main part of Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan their 'long-standing dream.' In the joint statement of the USA, Armenia, and Azerbaijan published on August 10, the project is referred to as TRIP.
