YEREVAN, June 30. /ARKA/. With the financial support of VTB (Armenia), the Newmag publishing house has presented to readers a new edition of Alexandre Dumas' novel 'The Three Musketeers'. The presentation of the new edition took place within the framework of the Newmag Summerfest 2026 book festival, the bank's press service reports.
The uniqueness of the new edition lies in the fact that the novel has been translated into Armenian for the first time directly from the French original. This allowed for the most accurate transmission of the author's style, artistic originality of the work, and the intentions of the great French writer, introducing young readers to the novel in a version as close to the original as possible.
“By supporting projects aimed at the development of culture, education, and reading, the Bank continues to contribute to the implementation of initiatives that promote the preservation and popularization of world literary heritage among Armenian readers,” commented Ara Avagyan, General Director and Chairman of the Board of VTB (Armenia).
“Dumas' style is characterized by special expressiveness, bright colors, and subtle humor. This is exactly what we aimed to preserve in the new translation so that the Armenian reader could feel the novel as the author intended. We thank VTB (Armenia) for supporting this large-scale project and for contributing to the publication of world literature in the native language,” noted Artak Aleksanyan, Director of Newmag publishing house.
The new edition of 'The Three Musketeers' will soon be available in all leading bookstores in the country.
Note: in the original novel, d'Artagnan compares himself to “don Iafet the Armenian” — a well-known figure in French literature as a braggart and a show-off. This reference, which is absent in the Russian translation, was identified thanks to the research work of translator Samvel Gasparyan.
