Georgia will impose restrictions on Iranian airlines that have been placed on the US sanctions list, according to the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.
The agency said the country will continue to fully comply with the international sanctions regime, including in the aviation sector.
On September 8, the United States imposed sanctions on 27 airlines in Iran’s aviation sector, alleging that the Iranian authorities use the industry to transport weapons, personnel and illicit cargo.
According to Georgia’s aviation authorities, several of the airlines on the sanctions list are currently operating flights between Georgia and Iran. Tbilisi said appropriate restrictions will be applied to their operations.
