Analyst Vage Davtyan stated that the rapprochement between Armenia and the EU could pose risks for Armenian tourism, especially if a visa regime is introduced for tourists from Russia.
He emphasized that Armenia remains one of the most popular destinations for Russian tourists, and the Russian market is systemically important for Armenian tourism.
In the first seven months of 2026, Armenia was visited by 1.24 million tourists, of which 40% — 491.5 thousand people — came from Russia.
Davtyan noted that if the number of Russian tourists decreases, it could lead to a loss of about 7% of Armenia's tourism market.
