Natalya Lapaourin, who led the 4 million euro project in Vanadzor and Gyumri, has been arrested:
The Anti-Corruption Committee reported that she is accused of bribery, embezzlement of entrusted property, money laundering, and official forgery. An expert of the same project, David Melkumyan, has also been arrested, accused of aiding in bribery.
Two years after the completion of the European Union program in these two cities, in April this year, law enforcement recorded significant damage caused to the communities by a group of officials and initiated criminal proceedings. The case involves 7 articles, ranging from embezzlement to money laundering and document forgery.
According to Azatutyun, the damage caused to the two cities is estimated at around 2.5 million euros.
