Ucom expands 5G coverage in Armenia

According to the company, the network is now available in 48 cities and more than 600 settlements.

Ucom is continuing its large-scale mobile network development and modernization program, gradually expanding 5G access and improving connectivity across Yerevan and the regions of Armenia.

The company says that, following infrastructure upgrades, it now offers the broadest 5G coverage in Armenia. The network is available in 48 cities and more than 600 settlements, as well as along major highways and at border crossing points, bringing reliable mobile connectivity to 94.6% of the population.

According to Ucom, the rollout goes beyond installing new 5G base stations. The program also includes phased modernization of existing infrastructure, increased network capacity and ongoing performance optimization. The company says these steps help the network handle rising data traffic, deliver higher speeds and maintain reliable service, particularly in high-traffic areas.

“For Ucom, developing 5G is not simply about adding new coverage areas to the map. People are increasingly relying on mobile internet for work, education, entertainment, travel, and everyday services, and the network needs to evolve ahead of these changing demands. That is why we continue to invest not only in expanding coverage but also in improving the overall quality and capabilities of our network. Our goal is to build infrastructure that is ready to meet not only today’s digital needs, but also those of the years ahead,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.

Cooperation with Nokia remains another key pillar of Ucom’s network development strategy. The partners are working on next-generation telecommunications technologies, including further 5G development, network automation, the use of artificial intelligence and future autonomous networking solutions.

Ucom says the cooperation is aimed not only at expanding the technical capabilities of the existing network, but also at building infrastructure that can quickly adapt to rising data consumption, the development of new digital services and future technological requirements.
