In Turkey, the level of internet usage among individuals aged 16 to 74 reached 92.3% in 2026, which is an increase of 1.4 percentage points compared to the previous year. This is reported by ermenihaber.am.
There has been a significant increase in the use of the internet for educational purposes: in 2017, the share of participants in educational or retraining processes on online platforms was 6.5%, while this year that figure has reached 22.9%.
This means that one in four people in Turkey uses online education.
According to the data presented, the share of women receiving education on digital platforms (23.5%) slightly exceeds that of men (22.4%). However, in the case of specific online courses, men are more active (8.1%) than women (7.8%).
The shift of the educational process to the digital realm is largely driven by the widespread availability of smartphones and tablets, as well as the necessity created during the Covid-19 pandemic.
