The normalization process of Turkey's relations with Armenia will continue in close coordination with Azerbaijan. This is stated in the 2026 activity program of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The document notes that ensuring lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus remains one of Ankara's main foreign policy priorities.
"The normalization process with Armenia will continue in close coordination with Azerbaijan. Turkey will also continue to support the peace process between Yerevan and Baku. It is emphasized that for long-term stability and security, the Turkish-Armenian and Azerbaijani-Armenian processes must advance in a coordinated manner," the document states.
The launch of the Armenian-Turkish normalization process was announced on December 13, 2021, by then Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. He emphasized that Ankara would act in coordination with Azerbaijan regarding steps to normalize relations with Armenia.
The parties appointed special representatives for the normalization process - Serdar Kılıç and Ruben Rubinyan, who have already held several rounds of negotiations, but have not yet achieved any breakthrough decisions, except for the launch of air cargo and passenger transportation.
