Turkey reduced oil purchases from Russian ports in July and plans to cut volumes further in August. This move follows attacks by Ukrainian drones that disrupted exports from Russian terminals in the Black Sea. This was reported by Deutsche Welle.
Ukraine intensified its attacks in July, leading to a week-long halt in exports from the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal and loading operations at the port of Novorossiysk. As a result, the volume of oil supplied in July decreased by one-fifth.
Turkey is a major buyer of CPC Blend, Kazakh KEBCO, and Urals oil types, receiving only about 900,000 tons of oil from Russian ports in July, compared to 1.2 million tons in June. It is expected that in August Turkey will receive about 200,000 tons of oil from Russian Black Sea ports. It is planned to transport Kazakh KEBCO crude oil with two tankers.
Currently, there are no planned supplies of CPC Blend or Urals oil to Turkey. Turkey is diversifying its supplies and is also importing crude oil from Brazil and Guyana.
