US President Donald Trump stated in an interview with CNBC that he congratulated entrepreneur Elon Musk on becoming a trillionaire. Trump noted that he did not speak to Musk but sent him a note. “I wrote to him, ‘Congratulations, that’s great,’” Trump said. He also mentioned that he has a good relationship with Musk, but there have been disagreements between them, as the administration rejected an initiative that would have required all Americans to switch to electric vehicles. “Elon wasn’t happy about that. And I can understand that. But he’s doing fine,” Trump said.
Musk, who is the richest person in the world, became a trillionaire on June 12 due to the initial public offering (IPO) of his space company SpaceX, which involved the sale of 555.6 million shares, valuing the company at $2 trillion. However, on June 24, Musk lost his trillionaire status due to a drop in SpaceX stock prices. According to the latest data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk's net worth as of July 3 is $992 billion. According to Forbes, Musk's net worth was $342 billion in 2025, up from $195 billion in 2024.
