Armenia is hosting the Tour of Armenia international professional multi-stage cycling race for the first time, with Team Telecom Armenia serving as the event’s technology partner. The competition brings together 16 professional teams from different countries.
The race is being held over four stages. Around 300 participants are covering a total of 568 km, with roughly 5,300 meters of climbing. The routes run through different regions and roads of Armenia, while the final stage will take place in Yerevan.
According to the organizers, Tour of Armenia is an important event for Armenia’s sporting life, as the country is welcoming a professional cycling tournament of this international level for the first time. The event is also seen as a platform to support the development of Armenian cycling, broaden the international experience of local athletes, and present Armenia as a sports and tourism destination. International broadcasting of the race will allow cycling fans in different countries to follow the competition while discovering Armenia.
Tigran Frangyan, commercial director of Team Telecom Armenia, said events of this scale are no longer possible without reliable connectivity and modern technological solutions. He said Tour of Armenia matters to Armenia not only from a sporting perspective but also in terms of international visibility, and that the company is ready to contribute its capabilities to help deliver the tournament at a high standard. He added that supporting initiatives that connect Armenia with international platforms and create new opportunities for the development of the country, sport and society is important for Team.
Khoren Zargaryan, director of the Sports Management Center, said organizing an international tournament of this scale is about far more than simply holding four days of competition. In his words, Tour of Armenia offers a unique opportunity to showcase Armenia internationally through its rich nature, historical and cultural heritage, and significant tourism potential. He also stressed the importance of reliable technological infrastructure and support in presenting all this to the world smoothly and properly.
The company said that, as a national operator, it will continue to contribute to initiatives aimed at raising Armenia’s visibility and presenting Armenian potential on international platforms.
