Armenia is hosting the Tour of Armenia international professional multi-stage cycling race for the first time, with Team Telecom Armenia serving as the event’s technology partner. The tournament brings together 16 professional teams from different countries.
The race is being held across four stages. Around 300 participants are set to cover a total of 568 km, including roughly 5300 meters of climbing. The routes run through various regions and roads of Armenia, while the final stage will take place in Yerevan.
Organizers describe Tour of Armenia as an important event for Armenia’s sporting life, as it marks the first time the country has hosted an international-level professional cycling competition. They also see it as a platform to develop Armenian cycling, broaden the international experience of local athletes, and present Armenia as a sports destination. International broadcasting of the race will allow cycling fans in different countries to follow the competition while discovering Armenia.
Tigran Frangyan, commercial director of Team Telecom Armenia, said events of this scale are now impossible without reliable connectivity and modern technological solutions. He said Tour of Armenia matters to Armenia not only as a sporting event, but also in terms of international visibility, and that the company is ready to support the tournament with its capabilities to help ensure it is held to a high standard.
Khoren Zargaryan, director of the Sports Management Center, said organizing an international tournament of this scale is far more than staging four days of competition. In his words, Tour of Armenia is a chance to present Armenia internationally through its rich nature, historical and cultural heritage, and major tourism potential, which also requires dependable technological infrastructure and support.
The statement says Team Telecom Armenia, as a national operator, will continue taking part in initiatives aimed at raising Armenia’s profile and showcasing Armenian potential on international platforms.
