The head of Armenia’s inspectorate and a UNECE representative also reviewed prospects for further cooperation.

Armenia’s Market Surveillance Inspectorate has discussed the use of digital tools and artificial intelligence in market oversight, along with opportunities to deepen international cooperation.

According to the inspectorate, its head Armen Kotolyan met with Lance Thompson, a representative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. Thompson serves as head of the Regulatory Cooperation Section at UNECE and secretary of the WP.6 working party.

The talks focused on the application of digital solutions in the market surveillance system, the potential role of artificial intelligence, and possible formats for future cooperation.

The meeting also covered cooperation planned under the extrabudgetary programme “Gender Mainstreaming in Quality Infrastructure.”

The statement said Lance Thompson highly assessed the inspectorate’s involvement in the work of UNECE WP.6’s RAMS group on Risk Management and Market Surveillance.

A capacity-building training session was held after the meeting.
