Court Upholds Prosecutor's Demand for Confiscation of Property of Former Aragatsotn Governor

Confiscation of Property of Ex-Governor Sarkis Saakyan

The Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia has upheld the prosecutor's demand for the confiscation of financial assets and property belonging to the former governor of Aragatsotn, Sarkis Saakyan. According to the prosecutor's office, the demand included the confiscation of 184 million drams and real estate.

On July 24, 2026, the Anti-Corruption Court partially granted the prosecutor's request against the former governor and related parties. Following the enforcement of the court ruling, 45% of an apartment located in the Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan, one residential house in the city of Ashtarak, and 184 million 222 thousand drams will be confiscated in favor of the Republic of Armenia.

It is noteworthy that Sarkis Saakyan served as the governor of Aragatsotn from May 2009 to February 2016.
