Strive CEO says Bitcoin could ‘go to infinity’ against the dollar

Matt Cole ties Bitcoin’s long-term upside not to scarcity, but to a US debt crisis.

Strive CEO Matt Cole says Bitcoin could effectively “go to infinity” against the US dollar if Washington’s debt problems continue to worsen. In his view, the decisive driver is not simply Bitcoin’s limited supply, but the strain that rising US debt could place on the dollar’s value.

Cole made the remarks on Bloomberg Crypto. At that point, according to the report, digital assets had regained $3 trillion in market value since January. Strive, which raises capital to buy and hold BTC on its balance sheet, has been among the more aggressive buyers through the cycle.

A debt crisis rather than a Bitcoin-only story

Cole argued that if the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department fully stepped away from the bond market, the 10-year Treasury yield would already be above 10%. He credited Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent with containing long-end rates for now, but said that intervention merely postpones a larger reckoning because neither party in Washington appears willing to cut spending.

On Bloomberg, Cole summed up the view bluntly: “We think Bitcoin can effectively go to infinity versus the dollar.”

That reasoning underpins Strive’s public forecast that Bitcoin could deliver a 50% compound annual growth rate through 2030. Cole describes that figure as conservative given the asset’s previous bull-market cycles. He expressed a similar view last month when he said the bear market was over.

Cole also said the same logic helps explain the performance of Strive’s SATA preferred stock. The instrument pays a daily cash dividend and, according to him, has outperformed Bitcoin itself by more than 100% in 2026, even as BTC has traded roughly flat overall.

Why the Bitcoin treasury model still holds, according to Strive

Cole also pushed back against the argument that the Bitcoin treasury company model is fading. In his view, the model never broke; rather, firms without a clear thesis or sound debt terms ran into trouble once the bear market arrived, while more disciplined buyers kept accumulating BTC even as Wall Street treasuries resumed buying.

In that framing, Bitcoin’s price outlook depends less on the asset’s own scarcity than on a bet that US fiscal dysfunction will intensify. That thesis pays off only if bond markets and the dollar move in the way Cole expects over the next several years.
