Strategy resumes bitcoin purchases with $75.7 million BTC buy last week

The company expanded its bitcoin holdings for the first time in about three weeks.

Strategy has resumed buying bitcoin after a pause of roughly three weeks. According to CoinDesk, the company purchased 950 BTC last week for a total of $75.7 million, paying an average of $79,670 per coin.

A regulatory filing submitted Monday morning said the purchase was funded through the company’s USD reserve. Strategy also used $174 million of USD cash to fund repurchases of STRC and allocated another $57.4 million from the USD reserve to pay dividends on its preferred stock.

Following those transactions, Strategy’s USD reserve stands at $5 billion, while USD cash totals $1 billion. Led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, the company now holds 846,000 BTC acquired for $63.81 billion in total, at an average purchase price of $74,417 per coin.

Investors reacted positively to the renewed buying. MSTR shares were up 7% in pre-market trading, while bitcoin climbed to around $84,500, marking a 4.5% gain over the past 24 hours.
