BRICS member states will continue to support the multilateral trading system and resist protectionist measures, Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the BRICS summit taking place in India, according to TASS.
Xi said the countries in the bloc should promote the common values of all humanity and encourage exchanges of experience among civilizations. He added that they should ensure harmonious coexistence and complementarity, while also sharing experience in the field of public governance.
The Chinese president said BRICS countries can jointly channel what he described as “accumulated positive energy” toward the stable development of interstate relations. In his view, that cooperation matters not only economically, but also for deepening political and people-to-people ties.
Xi also stressed the need to deepen cooperation in culture, tourism and education. He called for stronger youth exchanges, more regular contacts between peoples, deeper mutual understanding and closer ties between societies.
