Serzh Sargsyan and Barsegh Beglaryan will not attend court hearings

The court granted the motions to hold hearings without their participation

Today, the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia continued the hearing in the case of the third president, Serzh Sargsyan. Several cases related to Serzh Sargsyan have been consolidated and will be examined in one proceeding. The powers of judge Givi Hovhannisyan have been terminated, and he will be replaced by Sargis Dadoyan.

Serzh Sargsyan's lawyer, Amram Makinyan, requested that future court hearings be held without Serzh Sargsyan's participation. The Criminal Code allows hearings to take place with the participation of defenders.

"Serzh Sargsyan is at liberty, has chosen defenders, and does not object to the continuation of court hearings in his absence; his rights will be fully exercised by his defenders," said Amram Makinyan.

Barsegh Beglaryan also requested that future hearings be conducted without his participation, with his lawyer present. The court granted the motions.

During today's hearing, the court moved on to the main hearings.
