Firefighters extinguished a blaze at a Saudi Aramco refinery in Jazan. Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen reportedly claimed responsibility for attacking the facility.
The Saudi Ministry of Energy stated that "the competent authorities are completing the necessary procedures" to deal with the incident at the Saudi Aramco refinery in Jazan, adding that no one was injured.
The Houthis reportedly said they carried out a drone strike on the facility.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that his country is not currently engaging in talks with the U.S., but added that "messages are being exchanged through intermediaries."
Oman has been a key interlocutor, especially on the thorny issue of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial gateway for about a fifth of the world's energy supplies.
The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, said that reopening the Strait of Hormuz would require Washington to lift its naval blockade and sanctions.
Oil prices rose as investors awaited an agreement.
