Edward Sharmazanyan, a member of the Republican Party, stated that the authorities of Armenia express a desire to resolve issues with Russia, while simultaneously engaging in phone conversations with Ukrainian officials:
“What is the point of having phone conversations with Ukrainian officials, especially now? Previously, the Speaker of the National Assembly spoke on the phone with his Ukrainian counterpart, and now the Minister of Foreign Affairs is having a conversation with his Ukrainian colleague. And what are they talking about? I think, nothing. They have simply nullified the chances for a positive resolution of economic, export, and agricultural issues with the EAEU and Russia,” Sharmazanyan said.
He noted that if there is a desire to solve the problems of domestic exporters and farmers in EAEU countries, why exacerbate the situation with public phone conversations with official representatives from Kyiv?
“You might say that this is the sovereign right of the Republic of Armenia. Of course, but what benefit will this bring to the economy and citizens of the Republic of Armenia? We must act in the name of the republic, not against the Russian Federation,” the politician emphasized.
