Global Sugar Prices Reach Highest Level Since May 2025

Sugar prices have increased by 4%

Global sugar prices increased by 4% on August 18, reaching $0.176 per pound, the highest level since May 22, 2025, according to Kommersant.

Raw sugar futures for October delivery rose to $0.176 per pound during trading, then adjusted to $0.173, which is 2.73% higher than the previous figure. Since the beginning of August, sugar prices have risen by 17.7%, and by 26% over the last six months.

At the beginning of August, October futures had already updated the highest level since October 2025, reaching $0.165 per pound.

The price increase is primarily attributed to a decrease in raw material supplies from Brazil, one of the world's largest sugar producers. Additional factors include concerns about potential production declines in Europe due to unprecedented hot weather.

Thus, following the noticeable increase recorded in August, the sugar market continues to maintain an upward trend against the backdrop of deepening concerns about supply volumes.
