Citizens of Armenia expect the Constitutional Court to serve the interests of the Armenian people and democracy. This was stated by Anush Mirzoyan, a member of the "Strong Armenia" bloc, on her Facebook page, as the last hearing regarding the challenge to the election results takes place in the court on July 1, where the parties present their positions before the court deliberates on its decision.
As the political figure noted, while the Constitutional Court of Armenia has not yet announced its decision regarding the results of the parliamentary elections held on June 7, the "Civil Contract" party is already distributing positions. "How can you distribute positions when there is a possibility of a second round of elections? Why are you in such a hurry? Why has the ruling party already appointed Ruben Rubinyan as the speaker of the Armenian parliament? What was Rubinyan doing during his student years when he was in Turkey? One of the first to congratulate him was the special representative of Turkey for normalizing relations with Armenia, Serdar Kılıç, who wished him 'further success.' Success for whom - for Turkey?" - Mirzoyan questioned.
Speaking about why the party is in such a rush, the political figure reminded that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan even announced his victory when only 10% of the ballots were counted. "This happened because Pashinyan realized he would not win. Just like now, when the Constitutional Court has not yet made a decision, they are already distributing positions. It is obvious that Pashinyan does not want a second round because he is not sure that the resources he used will be possible to apply again," - emphasized the bloc member.
In this context, she stated that the expectation from the Constitutional Court is to prove that there is both a Constitution and constitutionalism in Armenia. "This was stated by the representative of the 'Strong Armenia' bloc, Aram Vardevanyan, during his speech at the Constitutional Court. The people, regardless of the existing reservations regarding the Constitutional Court, hope that it will serve the interests of the people and democracy," - concluded Mirzoyan.
It should be noted that on June 19, seven political forces submitted applications to the Constitutional Court of Armenia demanding the recognition of the results of the parliamentary elections held on June 7 as invalid. On June 21, the Constitutional Court decided to consolidate all cases into one proceeding. The first session of the Constitutional Court of Armenia started on June 26. The deadline for the court's decision is set for July 4.
