YEREVAN, August 13. News-Armenia. Goods imported from Armenia must comply with the veterinary and phytosanitary standards of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and suppliers must adhere to safety standards for the shipped products. This will be a condition for resuming imports of goods that are currently restricted, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture stated.
“Ensuring the safety of agricultural products, including the use of Armenian producers' own raw materials, pesticide control, traceability of supplies, and other mandatory requirements is a crucial condition for resuming imports of goods that are currently restricted,” the ministry's statement said following a meeting between the head of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, Oksana Lut, and the Armenian Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan.
On Restrictions on Armenian Product Supplies to the Russian Federation
Since the end of May, Russia has been gradually imposing restrictions on the supply of certain types of products from Armenia, citing violations of phytosanitary requirements. The restrictions have affected floral products, mineral water, some beverages and types of alcoholic products, vegetables, fruits, berries, grapes, potatoes, dried fruits, and later live fish and fish products, with dairy products being added to the list on July 27.
The restrictions also include a ban on the transit of Armenian-origin products through Russia to other EAEU countries.
