Russian Deputy Foreign Minister's Statement on the South Caucasus Railway

Yerevan's arguments do not correspond to reality

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that Yerevan's arguments claiming that the Russian concession of the South Caucasus Railway hinders Armenia's participation in new logistics projects do not correspond to reality.

According to Galuzin, the South Caucasus Railway Company is fulfilling its obligations and has invested over 30 billion rubles in the development of the Armenian railway network since receiving the concession, including for the modernization of rolling stock. He also noted that the railway's work schedule has been adjusted at the request of the Armenian side.

“The experience of Russian railways has helped Armenia maintain competitive advantages, which now allow for discussions on unblocking transport communications in the region,” he said.
