Russia has begun importing gasoline from India via sea routes, according to a report by Reuters citing two sources. In recent weeks, due to Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, the country has faced a severe fuel shortage, resulting in long lines at gas stations and record increases in gasoline prices.
The Kremlin confirmed yesterday that Moscow is negotiating with other countries regarding gasoline imports, but did not specify which countries. According to Reuters, two tankers have been sent from India to Russia, each carrying between 30,000 and 40,000 tons of fuel.
Last Sunday, President Putin admitted that Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries have caused fuel shortages in certain regions, while adding that they are “working on the issue.”
