Rubén Rubinyan to the Dashnaktsutyun: 'We see a threat, we are trying to find a solution'

NA President Rubén Rubinyan spoke about threats from Azerbaijan and Turkey

"Our threats come from Azerbaijan, as peace is still not irreversible." This was stated by NA President Rubén Rubinyan during the National Assembly session on August 5.

"A. Our threats come from Azerbaijan because we do not have peace with Azerbaijan; rather, we have peace, but that peace is still not irreversible and not finally institutionalized, meaning that the peace that has not yet become irreversible with Azerbaijan is undoubtedly and unambiguously a threat to the RA.

B. We have a threat from Turkey because having a direct neighbor and a closed border with that neighbor is at least an economic threat. Not having established diplomatic relations is at least a diplomatic threat," he noted.

According to Rubinyan, there are also other threats, such as insufficiently diversified economic and security connections, insufficiently diversified sources of energy resources and transit routes, and so on.

Addressing the MPs of the "Armenia" bloc, Rubinyan poses the question: "But what is the difference between us and you? We see a threat; we want to eliminate that threat, neutralize it. We see that there is no irreversible peace in Azerbaijan; we want to make it irreversible. We see that it is not yet 100 percent institutionalized; we want to institutionalize it.

With Turkey, we see the closed border; we see that it is a threat to economic operators; we are negotiating to come up with some solution, and we are moving forward step by step.

That is our difference: we see a threat, we are trying to find a solution, while you see a threat and decide to silence that threat. The history of the Dashnaktsutyun since 1920 is a history of silencing threats," he emphasized.
