Russian gas is significantly cheaper for Armenia than buying fuel from other countries, according to Aleksei Shevtsov, deputy secretary of Russia’s Security Council.
He said a possible decision by Yerevan to отказаться от поставок российского газа would cause Armenia much more serious damage than similar moves previously caused Germany and other European states.
Shevtsov made the remarks while commenting on a statement by Armenian Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan about the country’s future energy policy. Simonyan had earlier said that Yerevan intends to buy gas “from anywhere it is possible.”
