Putin announced a trade turnover of $2.5 billion between Armenia and Russia, Pashinyan pointed out existing problems

The Russian president noted that Armenia is Russia's main trade and economic partner

YEREVAN, September 1. /ARKA/. Russia is Armenia's main trade and economic partner, with a share of about 30%, and the trade turnover for the first half of this year amounted to $2.5 billion, said Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Bishkek:

“Mutually beneficial projects are being implemented in the fields of industry, agriculture, mining, peaceful atom, transport, and digital economy. Russian companies are the largest taxpayers in Armenia's budget, create jobs, transfer modern technologies, and strengthen the country's energy security,” he emphasized:

Pashinyan, for his part, noted that many Russian companies operate very successfully in Armenia, have high profits, and pay taxes:

“However, he said, it is necessary to divide these companies into two parts: ‘Companies that operate successfully, that is, they are profitable and they are developing. But there are also companies that, unfortunately, are unprofitable and not developing. And this is a problem, I think, for both Armenia and the Russian Federation. We need to look at and discuss these issues, these nuances as well,’” he said:

According to Armstat, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Russia for the first half of 2026 amounted to $2.63 billion, a decrease of 20.9% compared to the first half of 2025. Exports for the reporting period decreased by 4.2% to $1.22 billion, while imports fell by 30.6%, totaling $1.47 billion:
