After a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Bishkek, Russian President Vladimir Putin shared details with journalists about the discussions, including Armenia's European aspirations, relations with the CSTO, and the future of the Russian military base in Gyumri:
Putin noted that the tension in Armenian-Russian relations began due to developments around Nagorno-Karabakh. He reminded that in 2022, the Armenian leadership signed a document recognizing Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan:
"If Armenia believes that the Russian military base is unnecessary, we can leave even tomorrow," said Putin:
He also stated that Armenia's rapprochement with the European Union is a sovereign decision, but simultaneous membership in the EU and the EAEU is impossible:
Putin invited Pashinyan to Moscow to discuss all directions of Armenian-Russian cooperation:
