YEREVAN, August 13. /ARKA/. Public companies engaged in Bitcoin mining have reduced their total cryptocurrency reserves by approximately 28,000 BTC since the beginning of 2026, according to CoinDesk citing Blockware Intelligence data.
According to the source, at the beginning of the year these companies owned about 127,000 BTC, while currently their reserves stand at around 99,000 BTC. At current prices, the reduction is estimated at approximately $1.78 billion.
Blockware analysts believe that the sale of bitcoins by miners could have been one of the factors adding pressure to the market amid outflows from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs and sales by other major holders.
Since the beginning of 2026, Bitcoin has decreased by about 27% and is trading below $64,000, notes CoinDesk.
According to Blockware, the pressure on the industry is increasing due to high production costs. In these conditions, several mining companies are redirecting part of their infrastructure to serve projects in the field of artificial intelligence.
At the same time, the decrease in computational activity on the network reduces competition among remaining miners and may improve the economics of Bitcoin mining, analysts note.
