Peter Thiel buys stake in Argentine company Vista Energy

Vista Energy shares rise 5% after Thiel's investment

Vista Energy shares rose in premarket trading after it was revealed that billionaire Peter Thiel's hedge fund had acquired a stake in the Argentine company:

  • Vista Energy is the largest independent energy company in Argentina, developing shale oil in Vaca Muerta;
  • Thiel Macro LLC reported this as its second-largest disclosed position after Amazon;
  • Thiel relocated to Argentina with his family earlier this year.

Thiel Macro LLC disclosed ownership of nearly 1.2 million American Depository Shares of Vista Energy, valued at about $76 million:
