A 7.8 billion dram program is supporting thousands of families in border settlements.

Some 0.2% of Armenia’s 3.8 trillion dram state budget for 2026 has been allocated to a housing construction program in border villages. The funding is meant to help families living there build new homes or reconstruct existing ones.

According to Aravot, a video on the issue was published on Axioma TV’s YouTube channel. The report says that of the 7.8 billion drams earmarked for 2026, 3.2 billion drams had already been disbursed as of July 1.

Data from the Ministry of Labor and Welfare show that since the launch of the program over the past 3-4 years, 369 families have already completed their homes, 2943 families are currently in the construction phase, and another 349 families are expected to begin building or renovating their homes soon.

The author of the study argues that every person and every family living in border settlements has strategic importance for the country. In that assessment, the program also matters for Armenia’s balanced regional development, as it encourages people to remain in their communities instead of concentrating in Yerevan.

The publication adds that other state-funded programs are also being implemented for border villages under separate budget spending lines. Further details on the terms and scale of housing support are provided in the video report.
