PeopleX, a company providing interview services using artificial intelligence, has announced that it has raised an additional 5.4 billion yen to develop a large language model (LLM) for personnel management.
The company aims to enhance AI tools for personnel management and sales. This was reported by the Japanese newspaper Nikkei.
The independent development of the LLM underlying the AI will allow for the expansion of the functional capabilities of existing tools, including the service of conducting interviews through AI. The LLM will be trained on academic works related to personnel management, as well as on PeopleX's knowledge and experience, so that the AI can make appropriate decisions even when the client has limited data and a restricted accumulated experience in hiring employees from previous years.
To develop the LLM, the company has raised 5.4 billion yen through the placement of new shares and loan financing among third parties. The placement involved the large staffing company En, the major engineering personnel provider Open Up Group, as well as existing venture capital funds of PeopleX. Additionally, the company has borrowed a total of 2 billion yen from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Mizuho Bank.
PeopleX was founded in 2024. In 2025, the company launched its AI-based interview service, and from 2026, it began providing role training services for business negotiations and customer service with the help of AI. CEO Daiti Tatibana stated that this funding round will be the last before the initial public offering of shares.
The company aims to increase its revenue to 100 billion yen by 2031, half of which is expected to come from AI-related directions. In the field of recruitment, PeopleX will enhance its services for preliminary selection of candidate documents and evaluation of interviewers' performance through AI.
In the area of business negotiations, the company will also gradually introduce new services, which will be specifically designed for recording negotiations and subsequent analysis.
PeopleX also intends to conduct mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the fields of organizational consulting and personnel recruitment, aiming to increase revenue from businesses related to these directions to 50 billion yen by 2031.
So far, the company has acquired three companies, including those engaged in personnel recruitment, as well as businesses operating in the field of AI tools for recruitment. By 2031, PeopleX plans to conduct M&A transactions with about 20 companies.
