SRC warns unlicensed businesses over banned gambling-related terms

The new restriction takes effect on February 8, 2027, with a 500,000-dram fine for each violation.

Armenia’s State Revenue Committee said the RA law “On Regulation of Gaming Activity” will take effect on February 8, 2027, introducing new limits on the use of terms associated with the gambling sector.

Under the law, persons that do not hold the relevant gaming license will be barred from using in an organization’s name, trade name, trademark, website name or signage the words “շահումով խաղ,” including “խաղատուն” and “խաղասրահ,” as well as “ինտերնետ շահումով խաղ,” “վիճակախաղ,” and “բուքմեյքերային գործունեություն,” including “բուքմեյքերային գրասենյակ” and “տոտալիզատոր,” along with their derivatives or translations.

The SRC urged businesses and other persons without the required license to refrain in advance from using those legally restricted names and expressions under the new regulatory framework.

The agency also reminded the public that each violation defined by law carries a fine of 500,000 Armenian drams.
